Why do I only enjoy cleaning my room when it's really messy?
Why do I only enjoy cleaning something when it's very messy? Today, I cleaned my room. I deep cleaned my room. I deep cleaned my room in almost every aspect. My room had gotten pretty messy due to my lack of time to clean it previously. Once I got going, I couldn't stop. Why is it that I only really get into cleaning when my room is at its messiest?
When I go running, it's easiest when I haven't been able to go for a week or so. I have more energy and can't wait to make up for lost times with a really good workout. This is similar to my not having cleaned my room really well for a while. I want it to be spotless, so I use all of my energies to get it to that point and make up for lost cleanings.
When something's really messy, it's easier for me to clean it than if it's only slightly unorganized. As I get older, this becomes more and more true. The secret lies in the difference I will make. There's no fun in cleaning something that won't be noticable. Do we clean under our beds if no one is even going to come in our bedroom? No, not unless we have excess amounts of time spent being board. We would rather clean the dishes and vacuum the floor, where it will be more noticed by ourselves and others. The key to desire to clean messier messes is this: There's more satisfaction in cleaning when there's more of a difference when you're finished.
When I'm done deep cleaning a previously messy room or area, I feel accomplished and successful in my task. I fell as if my time was well-spent. There's no regret in having used my time, because I'm happy with the end product. There's no point in dusting a room where the dust isn't visible yet unless you have really bad allergies or something. When you're done, there isn't any satisfaction or accomplishment. For the same reason, it's usually difficult to find motivation in cleaning a room that is only slightly unorganized. I enjoy cleaning my room when it's really messy because I know that I'll be very happy with the end product, and I'll feel like I've accomplished something when I am finished. The more messy, the more motivation, satisfaction and enjoyment there is to be found in cleaning it.

Sami's funny. I like a clean room too, I just wish I always liked cleaning it in the first place so it didn't have to get that messy!
